I have a quick question? I have a 1973 302 with a/c. Would removing most of the a/c components allow the car to run cooler? I already have the air compressor off because I needed to get to the distributor bolt. The a/c doesn't work and I don't plan on fixing it anytime soon. I only like 3 miles from work so it wouldn't help. What all can I remove from the engine compartment? Thanks, Jonathan
ac I took entire unit out of my 72, even pulled the ac heater box under dash and striped every thing out but the heater core, took off the lines , evaporator, compressor, all the brackets...everything, you would be amazed at how much that stuff weighs. Now I have loads of room under the hood...power steering is next...Jim 4door73, not trying to steal your thread but I want to invite you to Toad Suck mini meet on June 25th at Conway Arkansas. Bring your car, family etc...be glad to meet you. check the thread under MCCI meets forum...Jim
I would be there if I didn't have to work. I only get Tuesday's and Wednesday's off. One day my wife and I will make it to a meet. I'm slowly restoring the mav and plan on keeping it for as long as I can. Later, Jonathan
WOW if I only lived closer, I would buy all the brackets and stuff from the a/c. I have a 73 had a 250 in it but now has a 302. I am planning re-installing my ac but will have to get the right brackets and stuff from a V8 car..DARN!!
