I just got a '86 T-bird to get me back and forth to work untill I get the mav home. It runs real good (tire smoking good (y) ) but the tranny won`t shift past 2nd gear. Besides the TV cable what would make it not shift into 3rd and 4th ? If its the valve body how hard is it to change ?

How's the fluid level in that trans?

Also, you may want to consider changing that fluid, anyway. The TV cable *is* another thing you may want to look at, but I kinda doubt that's your problem.

If the valve body's bad, changing that requires that you drop the pan and remove something like 24 bolts. They're 2 differnet sizes, and the short ones must go back in their respective holes (obviously.)

You also have to remove the manual lever detent spring and roller assy. bolt, as well. It should come right out, then.
