Hi all, been surfing the site for a few weeks and thought I should sign up. (Great boards-by the way) This is the car for my 16 yr old, will drive it in june(maybe) a '74 w/250 I-6, fact. air, auto trans, and-drum roll please-63,800 orig. miles. We are the 3rd owner and until I had a c-d player installed, was totall orig. runs like a top. anyway- had to brag, and I don't know if I will let go come june.
That is one very clean looking car. Bragging is not only accepted on this board, its expected. We also like to look at pictures so post away. You guys should join the club and come to the Roundup in July. Click on link below. http://www.maverickcometclub.org/ Here is a picture from last years Roundup.
All I can say is sweeeeeet mav!!!! Man being in Texas, I am surprised Doug Baurer in Manor, TX didn't find that car before you did! Like Mavaholic said, check out the club site and join-up, and you'll enjoy it, and we'll see you in Indiana at the nationals!!! I think Doug (Texas state rep) also has a mini meet there in Texas. P.S. You can always keep that one for yourself and find your son another!!
thanx...now the questions thanx..I found this car at the dealership I work at in the eve. The orig. owner..don't know..sec. owner, old lady, bought it in '76 w/15,000 miles. 3rd..me..in 02 w/63,300..do the math, its fun. oh, $500 plus taxes for car, and a weekend of me and my son compound,polish,compound,polish... then to a pro w/ a buffer. now???? needs shocks.any ideas..want to add reciever hitch to rear to pull sea-doo's to lake.. any tips or is this not a good idea. air shocks..read that not good idea. thanx..more questions to come
Comet Dad I would use regular shocks, not air shocks. I think a small hitch would be OK. A coulple Sea Doo's should not have much tongue weight. One thing I would do is put a combination oil & trans cooler on it.
Back when my Sprint was new, I put a hitch on it. I had a 4X4 utility trailer and a motorcycle trailer. I pulled my 750 Honda and moved my household effects half way across the country and back more than once. It was quite the workhorse in its younger days. It was only a 200 with a 3 speed manual so I'm sure you wont have any problems pulling your stuff.
sorry pic sorry about the pic, thought it was a new one, not a mirrored one of the one already posted...oops.
thanx ya'll o.k., thanx everybody. will go with standard h/d shocks all around, and try to fab a trick hitch with reciever hidden behind lic plate. might not work, but will try. only reason to use comet for sea-doos, pontoon boat to big, travel trailer too big...too many toys, not enough tow vehicles.
comet dad Hey when you get that hitch put on and have the sea-doo's hooked-up, take another picture and post it.
