I just installed an ACC carpet set in my 77 Maverick. It fit OK except a little loose around the front transmission hump. While the seat and old carpet were out a tried a set of Mercury Monarch 2 door bucket seats in it. They fit perfectly with no modification, including over the cat. hump. They use the same tracks as the Maverick with spacers under the drivers side inner track. I compared them to a set of 77 Comet 4 door buckets, the frame and tracks are identical. Grenadas used the same seats. Since they have the same interior colors as the Maverick I'm hoping to find a set of blue ones. The Comet seats are tan and the Monarch seats are deep red. If I can't find any I'll have to reupholster the ones I have.

I just bought some really nice seats out of an 88 Accord. I have heard that they will fit with little modification. Since it is raining out today, I will have a chance to stay in the garage and install. Will write back afterwards if it works, since there are MANY Honda's out in the parts yards.

I tried looking just at Ford and Mercury seats, but they seem to be the ones in the worst shape. In all 4 yards we visited, I saw not a single set that was even close to useable, but found many Hondas, probably 6 sets. I just chose the cleanest set with the fewest spare parts sitting on them, and the windows and doors were closed so they haven't been rained on.

After I get the seats set up, I really need carpet. Any suggestions where I can get new carpet?

Auto Custom Carpets' phone number is 1-800-633-2358. The set I just ordered lists for $173.00 and takes about 3 days to be made and is shipped from Birmingham, AL. You can choose any color in both cut pile and loop. Shipping is around $20.00. They fit a little loose on the 69 1/2 and 70 around the transmission tunnel and the same on the cars with the cat hump. I usually add an extra layer of carpet jute to the top of the tunnel and it solves the problem.

$109 at Automotive Interiors!!! Why have I waited so long?

The only problem, and it is a big one, is that I have no idea what color the car will eventually be, and they have lots of colors to choose from. But, at that price, I could do it twice. By the time I paint, I will have made a greasy mess of the carpet anyway.

I got the carpet for my '94 Escort from them. Delivery was quick. Looks just like the original carpet...

The wife and I are trying to decide on what color.

I do the work, she is the interior and exterior decorator (paint, carpet, seats...).
