I just bought a low mileage 1977 Maverick and have another one. Both have bad fuel sending units. I have not been able to find a source for a new one. Is there anyone making new ones for the 77?
    Thanks, Fred

AutoCrappers has one listed for the 71-74. It will work in the later tanks. The 75-77 tanks have more capicity so the only problem I see is it might not let the tank go as empty as the correct one. One day if I ever get a 75-77 I will pull the fuel sender and compare the 2. I'm thinking they are the same.

Good luck getting one from Auto Crappers. We ordered one for our '74 back in March, it costed around 80 bucks and to this day it is still on back order. Now we don't even need it any more. I got a like new one for free.

I am not impressed with them.

I've had nothing but problems with Autokrafters. They tried to pass off 63 Chevy lower rear quarters for 61 Ranchero ones. They also shipped me the wrong parts and wouldn't refund the shipping. Also they tell you they have everything in stock and when your order arrives half the stuff is on back order. I run an auto upholstery shop and have a policy of not installing anything purchased through Autokrafters. I tell all my customers they can buy the same things elsewhere with better service.
The 77 fuel sender goes into the side of the tank. I tried to twist and modify an earlier one but it was too short and almost impossible to bend into the right shape. My next option is to use an early tank which I can get the fuel sender for. I've had good luck with other Ford gas tanks and sending units from Quanta. They are always at Carlisle, give a good show discount and bring a lot of tanks with them. Thanks,
    Fred

I have a 75 sending unit (not for sale but i can take some measurments for the float wire if you would like me to. I will dig it out of my boxes tomorrow and see how hard it would be to make a wire for it even

autocrafters one for that year won't work! its backwards. i order one just to check it.

i used a mustang one and just rebent the sending unit:p just that when it hits a half a tank it goes now quick! guess its better then nothing.

Thanks! What I need to know is the lenght of the pickup tube. Both mine are in cars that are being used daily. I will try to find another with the same length tube and bend it. The last one I tried was from a Falcon or Econoline and I beleive the tube was too short and it mounted on it's side. Every used one I find is no good.
