rebuilding my 302 have question

    can i put a holley 750 on it without change cam?
    and do u think stock fuel pump will be enough?

    im new to this so sry if these seem like seem foolish to u experts

    750 is way overkill for a 302. Most dont even need a 650. It depends on many things including how high your going to spin it.

    Yes, 750cfm is way too much carb and a 650 double pump can also be too much depending on what you all have done to it. If you have just done some basic performance add-ons I would suggest sticking with a basic 600cfm, that's all the carb you'll need. i've always run a stock fuel pump for mine and have never run into a problem. if you are going to be doing some major performance upgrades then I would suggest going with an aftermarket pump.

    you'll probably never get it running right no matter how much you jet it down, which defeats the purpose. stick with the 600 or if you plan some mods try the 650.:)

    i e mailed holly tech service and they said if i use the size 63 jets i will be ok as i have a stock 302 also have not got the engine in yet so i can't give any real help

    Jetting it down will only make it run lean....don't do that. You can run one if you have it, and wire the secondaries shut, and it will be a big 2bbl. I disconnect mine on tracks that are slick. Is it a double pumper? If not, you can always change the secondary springs to slow the opening down some.

    The 750 is the best all around Holley for small block Ford's, It is really a bit overkill, but with proper engine and carb tuning will work just fine. The big advantage is that you can upgrade the performance parts in your engine and still use the same carb, in the future. If you are going to use the car for mostly street driving I would go with the vacuum secondaries. The formula for finding the correct cfm carb for a 302 comes up with something like a 450cfm flow. Go figure, the engine is nothing but a big air pump and no matter what size carb is used, it will only use what amount of air it can, compared to it's size and cam etc. The problem with carb overkill is getting the fuel atomazation correct to produce the best combustion and power output. A 500cfm two barrell will work as long as the thing is tuned correctly etc. Holley's are hard to setup at first but will provide good power and even gas mileage, once they are. That is if you can keep your foot out of the secondaries, he he he.

    What they said...I have the Holley Street Avenger 570cfm on my 302. It is just right. Gives me everything I need, good gas mileage on the highway & lots of power when I put my foot in it....
