I call my 73 Comet LDO/GT "The Heartbreaker". Because of Chevy's Heartbeat of America. I have the rear window etched (Ford oval) which reads "Ford the Heartbreak of Today's Chevrolet". It's good to be different....Everybody now knows it, as the Heartbreaker! The 70 Grabber is "The Grabber". The 72 Sprint is "The Sprint". The 73 Comet GT is "The GT" or "Yellow GT". The last three names are boring, but original...

That's a good idea!(y) It has been a rocky road to getting this car finished, and it sure sounds better than " Ugly".

Oh I forgot, sometimes I call it "the noisy one" too as my other car doesn't make a sound.

"Della" was my wife's great-grandmother's name. She bought the car in 1973, new off the lot in LaPorte, TX. I still have the receipt, owner manual, and all the literature that came in the glove box, including the last time she registered it, which was early 1980s.

She passed away 3 years ago, I got the car a year later.

The name "Della" is still with us today.

Mine doesn't have a name. I remember former member Pauline Ledbetter named her red '69-1/2 Maverick "Alice"...

"The Comet" and occasionally "Bandit 1".

Unfriendly types who want to get under my skin will call it "The Vomit".

My comet is just the comet,my blue '70 I call "the race car"although it probably will be a driver(someday??).I nicknamed my'75 4dr "gangrene"because it was ugly and only got washed 3-4 times a year(dark green w/tan pinstripes, yuk)so if I happen to beat someone at the track everyone who knew me would say"they got smoked by gangrene!"Fun times.

My Comet ( or i should say the ex's car) is also called "The Comet"

Mind you now these are all 1971 models.

First one is called the "Rocket"

Second one is called the "Booster"

Third one is called the "Black Top"

And for TL ,I thought your car was named "Chain"

Also was it not "Crazy Alice" ?

Back to the ex's car, she is waiting on plates that read "71COMET" ,she lucked out and got them here in the land of furits and nuts!
