Here are some updated restoration pics for those interested. Turns out that a battery must have exploded in the car and the previous owner used aluminum sheets, rivets and bondo to hide it. I found it so it had to be fixed. Here are some pics of the new battery support and fender apron going in ..... Dan http://homepage.mac.com/dmhines/PhotoAlbum10.html
I too am working on my engine bay at the moment, actually not right at this moment. I was blessed with a rust free car, though, cleaning the 30+ year old crap up is a blast!! Way to go!!
rust free maverick a rust free maverick........is there such a thing?? ..j/k... around here you are extremely lucky to find one rust free,I can't recall ever seeing one without front fender rust unless it was restored.I was workin on mine fri.and also found out that my battery tray and inner fender apron are in really tough shape...time to get out the torch and welder!!!!!!!
I agree that a rust free car aint as much of a challenge, but i sure could have used a lot less challenge when I did my Sprint last year.
Dan your car is looking great, even my car that came from Tx. had the apron rusted out there......but then again I cut all of my inner fenders out. I just had to post and say great work!!!!
I have a NOS battery apron that I picked up at Carlisle about 3 yrs ago . I really dont need it but I'm hanging on to it hoping one day, someone will want to use it to make reproductions.
The Fender Apron I got off of the MMB several weeks ago in the parts for sale forum. The rockers and radiator support are from http://greensalescompany.com. Dan
