scooper- have you tryed to get your wife envolved in the build? maybe she would with a little encouragement.... or try asking her,"which part, or which color on this or that"....might work?

I have to admit, this is the best forum on the internet. It is just like family. I haven't met most of you & I feel that I know you. The people that I have met, are the coolest. This is the place to come to, if you have any questions (no dumb questions here). Doesn't matter if it's personal problems or about Mavericks & Comets. Everyone is willing to help in anyway they can.
Bravo, to each & everyone of us....Keep up the good work....

My wife is the "interior and exterior designer." I am the "guy that does all the work." My dog owns the car. I have to keep the two of them happy, as much as my time and checkbook will let me.

she sometimes sits in the garage drinking beer...

Scooper, something in your wife's training didn't click. SHE should be working on the car while YOU sit and drink beer. 'Course maybe that's why I'm divorced and you're not. :drink: :D

    Scooper...

Okay..I was kinda destined to become a car nut...i mean I always liked them, hubby has had a few through the years...Mustang, Torino,Fairlaine ...but I never really got into it...i would go and bring him something to drink and stay out there with him for about 30 mins tops and go back inside...He really wouldn't let me do anything to them other than get a tool for him or hold something for him...Then we moved to Vegas...Hubby told me about the Mav and asked if I wanted to go and look at it...On the way there I really made a promise to myself...to keep an open mind...We needed a second car and I wanted to give it a chance...Well, when I saw it I was like"Hmmm...dont know about this..." The vinyl was peeling, the paint was worn off of the hood, dents in both 1/4's...Then I gave it a chance and sat in it...and that was it! Fell in love! What really worked out good was that he had been in school and didnt have too much time to work on it, so I started on it with the small things, like replacing the dome light cover...:biglaugh: and slowly progressed for there... I had to tell mu hubby a few times when he told me "No, dont start on that, wait for me to do it" that It was my car and I wanted to fix it! Maybe you could do the same with your wife...find a decent one, that doesnt need too much work, but let her do it at her own pace..start small and go from there...you could always catch her slack when you need too!

I for one have more sense than money. I don't really do much with the sense though.

If I have less money than sense, I'm in a world of trouble.

    Xtasea,

Would your husband have thought you would ever get into cars, let's say 5 years ago (I am not sure how old you are and how long you have been married). Would he have said about you the same things I am saying about my wife? If so, then there is hope, because you just described her to a T. I have had this car around 2 years, just after her great grandmother passed and we got it. She drove it once, I think, when it still had the original exhaust. It is now dualled out with side pipes, and has much more horsepower, and a B&M shifter. She uses the shifter as her excuse to not drive it. Any suggestions on how to get her into the driver seat.

On a side note, she loves fast cars. She drives a supercharged Bonneville, and loves to drive my Hemi Dogde 1500. She used to drive a 280ZX that I kept running for 325000 miles, since before I was in high school. That car got us both through college, and me through grad school. Just something about the mav intimidates her...

I know Hubby is still in disbelief that I like my car as much as I do...Now that I got the dents out I am really careful in it..I am babying it already, hate to see when I get the paint on...So yea, I think that there is hope for her yet...As far as getting her into the drivers seat, just give her your charge card when you hand her the keys and tell her she has to drive it to shop...Just Kidding (although that would probally work!):biglaugh:
