I have a 74 Comet that came with the Halo? Vinyl top. ( top doesn't go all the way to the drip rails) anyway, my son doesn't want the top so we have removed it. The trim is almost perfect as far as being straight goes. Very very small dings that I can feel but can't see. it is dull and needs to be polished. My first instinct was to throw them away but then thought about the board. Are these rare? is there any demand for these? Given that they aren't perfect are these trash or does someone want them? Open to suggestions.

    Thanks
    Dave

i havent seen too many cars with it myself. mine came with that option but all of mine is in good shape. I have heard that it was a grabber option but i have seen just mavs with it too. So it was probably whatever ford had laying around that day. lol anyhow i would say you should put it on ebay and see what you can get out of it. I havent seen any of the trim for the halo sell on ebay so you might have a goldmine. if not at least you can get something from it. sure would hate to see you throw it away though. if it comes to that let me know i will buy them as spares.

I bought my '74 comet a couple years back, and it originally had a halo vinyl top, however, when the car was repainted about 5 years ago, the previous owner had the halo top removed, but kept the chrome trim. prior to selling the car to me, the halo trim was "stolen" by her ex husband, just to piss her off. i still have the mounting pegs on the roof, and was considering replacing the vinyl top and trim. depending on how hard it is to find a new halo top, your trim may prove useful to me indeed. Let me know if you've gotten rid of it yet

I still have it. I don't plan on actively trying to sell it but I won't be trashing it. If you need it we can work it out no problem. I have to be a bit careful here as this car is my sons. (he's 15) and we got it to rebuild it together so I could teach him some car stuff and I figure if he works and builds it himself he will be a bit more careful with it.. I say this because I am sure he will want to "sell" it. but unless this trim turns out to be a 100.00 item I would guess $10-$20.00 plus shipping would make him very happy or possibly a trade for some small item he needs for his car etc.

without Comet now just keeping in touch
I've seen several cars with the Halo top, never thought of it as "rare" this makes me curious:hmmm: , because if it is I'll retain it on my Comet. Comets have an inherit degree of "rarity" simply because less were built than Mavericks , I'd sure like to know how " rare" or common my Comet is, equipment trim etc, is there anyway to tell, from VIN , I mean is there a way to find out, if I supplied the VIN? Who would be a source for that kind of info, produciton numbers with given equipment trim etc? Ok Just opened the Smilies, I always just kept it opened in a small window, by chance I just opened it further, I feel pretty stupid right now, I like the Comet!! I've seen it on here before. but never new I could access it. Like I said I am an idiot! :comet:

Thanks, I made it. :) Thanks to Stefan for adding it to the list of smileys.

And I agree with you about the Comets. I've always liked the Comets a little more (mainly the tail lights), but I am a huge fan of Mav's to.
