...a friend of mine had told me about his Uncle's property. The man died a few months ago. He had a large rural piece of property and for some reason collected old junk cars. He didn't sell parts off of them or rarely the cars themselves. My buddy had said that he had 4-5 small bumper Mavericks/Comets including a Sprint Maverick, all original with the original paint, decent shape. Before my buddy knew anything about it the beneficiaries of the mans' estate sold them all to a scrap yard. They crushed them all, over 100 cars, including the Sprint. Seth
&#@*#^&*#!!!!!!What is wrong with people???? Don't they know that classic cars of ANY kind are worth more for parts/restoring than they are for scrap?!?!?! I tell you, there are some REALLY STUPID people out there!! ARRAGGGGHHHHH!!! Preston Sorry, I just had to get that out there. It happens ALL TOO OFTEN!! Preston
It makes me want to cry when I hear stories like that...my next door neighbor back home has a junk/used parts yard and when we moved we had to sell my hubbys torino cause we couldnt just leave it...it ran pretty good, but had some issues, but still, all he gave us was 150 for it...last i heard he sold it to a guy who made a funny car out of it....my hubby still has regrets....but all he said was "At least he didnt crush it"
That is really sad. What bugs me the most is that people will not take the time to even find out if there is any interest in the older cars before they have them hauled off and crushed. Even what may appear to be a complete junker to some folks may have a wealth of usable parts to someone else. Heck, they would most likely even make a few bucks off these cars if they would only give it some thought. As a rule, these are the same people who are'nt interested in old cars and only want the cars gone. That attitude is everyone's loss.
Apparently the heirs live in Ark. while the property is here in NC. They probably didn't want to deal with it.
