I had a similar problem a few years ago on a car I restored. Seems I had put masking tape on the starter feed wire to chart its destination. When I put it back together it would not start. I took days trying to figure out why. Ended up being masking tape still on it and it would not conduct, no conduct = no start. Talk bout feeling stupid, Took the tape off and she fired. Dan
floating i remember that well and hopefully will do it again!oops, sorry i just flashbacked into the 70's for a moment.
did you use the stock spindles or changed everything?i see 75 mustang 2's have the same bearings as 70 mav 6 cars i got a 75 stanger sitting here that i can rob for hubs from.
clicking solenoid occasionally is a poor contact someplace, often the main post on the starter. check all of the connections and tighten/clean them. from battery posts to the starter ground. did you recently paint the block around where the starter mounts?
My Comet had this problem, turns out the starter had vibrated loose, bpuuting it in a bind.. woudln't turn over, so it clicked.
well turns out starter was bad put a new one in but no it makes squealing noise do these starters have to be shimmed ?
