Just need to get it painted blue and setup for a mechanical fuel pump and it will be ready to go ...... If you know anyone that needs the following brand new parts let me know. Yeah .. not sure where he got the engine ... It appears to be more of a replacement engine a Dealer would recieve ... not the typical crate engine from Ford Motorsports. The Crate engine comes with a flywheel and no intake manifold. This engine came with an intake manifold but no flywheel.
great looking engine hope ya getter goin soon.anyone know anything about the 5.0 sohc lincoln motors 92-94 era.theres a couple at the parts yard that looked interesting i guess they run ok the yard guys said they burned the tires good on the cars they are in.
I know that you would be hard pressed to fit one in a Mav. They are super wide motors. They dont make enough power to justify the real estate IMHO. At least not unless they are forced induction, in which case they shine. EDIT: SOHC 5.0? Im not aware of one of those. 4.6 maybe. If its a regular 5.0, then it MAY be a good engine. Non-HO engines came in those types of cars though Im not positive on the years/applications. I know that some of the Mark VIIs came with the 5.0 HO and it was identical to the Mustang 5.0 engine. The Mark VIIIs came with 4 valve 4.6s similar to the later cobra motors.
Dan, I'm happy for you. Good luck with the new engine. Are you still going to have to part with your '74?
I'm gonna get the engine ready to drop in over the next few weeks by swapping as much as I can off the engine in the car, pulling the radiator, removing the tranny mount bolts and shifter, etc ... Then I'll invite you Southern boys up for an engine swap day. I figure 30 minutes to pull the engine and tranny as a unit since all we should have to do is remove the hood and the engine mount bolts. Then I just move the tranny over to the new engine and we can drop it back in ... I figure 4 hours worth of work tops for the transplant. Then I can button it back up and get it running at my leisure ... I'll send out the invites sometime in May ... Lunch and Dinner is on me! Dan
Nope ... got the engine for 1/3 of what Ford would have charged me ... So I can keep the 74 too! ....
GREAT!!!!!!!!! You would have regreted it later. Never want to be pressured into selling anything. Glad things are working out for you. If I lived closer I would give you a hand with the engine.
