It is possible the engine might have integral teeth for a magnetic trigger distributorless ignition. I would guess the aluminum heads will take 40 pounds off the front
Here's a nice stroker for a little more. 400 Hp ebay item number is 796733712 I cannot figure out how to post a link on here, sorry clint
What are you going to do with the engine in there now ,I may want it. If I can help let me know. I do not know much about that engine but probly does not have fuel pump mounting on it. Not sure that fox body pan will work. I would look into Ford Racing Part#M-6007-A342
Gene Evans Ford in Union City, GA is offering free freight on crate engines. They have the M6007B51 in the ad for $2900. Looks like you might be 30 - 45 minutes from them. You might be able to get the engine cheaper if you pick it up and they don't have to pay freight. But there is still the tax issue. John Bleakley Ford also in Georgia is one of the largest volume Ford Racing dealers in the country. Their site gives a good breakdown of the engines. http://www.johnbleakleyford.com/frparts.asp
Thanks for the John Bleakley tip ... They have the M6007B51 engine for $2970 ... 320 horse and includes the e303 cam for producting HP and Torque at lower RPM's.
I am sure either of those two will have the engines in stock and will be able to tell you what needs to be swapped. You had concerns about the balancer which you can buy a new one from Professional Products for about $60
M 6007B1 - check to see that it has threaded boss for clutch z-bar mount. M-6007-A342 400HP/390ft/lbs ,hyd roller ,10.0to1 ,GT-40 heads M-6049-X303 ,Victor Jr intake ,cast crank.
There are no roller blocks threaded for a z-bar ... I'll have to buy the $50 bracket that bolts onto the bell housing to adapt it ... no biggie ..
You could go to a performance engine builder like Keith Craft and get an engine built with the proper block.
Talk about bad luck ... The engine on my lawn mower died today too! Atleast I had more miles on the lawn mower!
Yep. Like I said yesterday, "If it wasn't bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all. Depending on your mower, you can prorbaly buy a new cheaper than just the motor. Check prices here: htttp:/www.northerntool.com There's one in Norcross and they always have some engines on sale.
