Hey Guys I Looking For You Fast Guys For Some Help!!
How Long Would My 8inch. 4.62 Gear Hold With A 4000 Stall Or Would It. Looking At Maybe 8.8, Heard They Have Way Less Rotating Mass Than A 9. Trying To Lower My 20% Loss

it was in the january 2004 issue of "super rod" magazine. they say they were first introduced in 1981 and are still available in mustangs, crown vics, and trucks including the f-150, explorers, and the 4.0 rangers. also noted was the excellent chance of finding a limited slip differential. mustangs are going to come with good gear sets, but trucks and suv's often have 3.55, 3.73, and 3.90 gears. stock passenger splines are 28, while full size trucks are 31's. it also states the axles can't be shortened due to the c-clip buttons. on truck rearends the bearings are the large torino type bearings. the 8.8 requires less power than the 9 inch to turn and with the right aftermarket parts can handle 7-800 hp. my guess is you need to measure your rear end and figure what width you want then shop around. super rod can be reached at 866-515-5600. 9-6pm est. hope this helps a little.:)
