anybody know if mustang and maverick are the same thanks ron jc shows a diff part # but they look like they will work
As the spring compresses, it gets longer. The shackels are a hinge point to allow them to extend without binding. If the rear of the spring were attached solidly like the front, it would almost be like no springs at all.
Looks like roller bearings. Much less friction although I would think the rubber would have a dampening effect which I thought would be desireable. Dont know why you would want roller bearings on the leaf springs.
I have seen a bracket setup like that on a website. Must be in my bookmarks on my other computer. I will look to see if I can find it. Len from Lentech has his on a slide setup like that also, but with some other trick parts to go along with it. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=9071&highlight=len
Mav vs Mustang shackles. The metal parts are the same, but the bushings that come with it are different. Mavs use smaller outside diameter bushings.
They are roller bearings. I got them at a local circle track shop, although I know that Summit sells them now. Pro: The idea is to let the spring do what it does freely, the rubber tends to bind, and work against the spring a little bit, I dont know how much the rubber actually effects the spring, but these just eliminate that. I also have aluminum front eye bushings(Global West, internal rotating sleave, greasable). Up and down movement free of bind. Con: Noise transfer, road noise, rear end noise, etc. I can't really hear it over the exhaust sound though .
