Hey guys, has anyone tried to modify a late model 5.0 gas tank to fit the Mav. My ford guy told me there's a couple of benefits to doing it.

Some here have replaced the tank with a reproduction '65-'68 tank.
I can't think of any advantages to using a late model 5.0 Mustang
tank. I seriously doubt that it would come close to fitting without
lots of modifications. You can get a complete early Mustang tank
with sending unit, draing plug, install hit for probably less than
    $130.

If everything is going acording to my plans my car's gonna be side ways ALOT and the basket in the tank that holds a "reseve" of fuel would be necessary. the modifications that you speak of really are not an issue. i just wanted to know if anyone's done it yet. thanks for your input (y)

Not gonna make it to commerce, i have alot of suspension work to do before i take any trips. the mustang rearend i have has disc brakes and with a little bit of work it's going to complete my idea of what a "drifter" mav should have. my intentions are real. i ran acoss a Nissan 240 shop that was home base for a couple of Semi-pro drifters. we measured wheel bases and steering angles, they were remarkably similar. By the way has anyone seen the strut conversion their selling for early model mustangs! boy if i had a sponsor i wouldn't mind doing the ground work to put that in. pics will be online as soon as i'm done w/ the swap.

I've already played the idea in my head. If your refering to the foxbody mustang. There is a large hump on the top half of the mustang tank that would not fit the mavericks flat undercarriage. Heres a pic

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
I also have a fuel tank problem and i found out that you can only get i from an early 70 modle mustang and not a fox or short mustang body type but if you find a solution mail me i would really want to know.
