I was driving today after picking up some good old T-Bell when I passed a 65 Mustang. I wasn't passing it in a rude or cocky way, its just they had some folks in front of them and I had a clear path ahead of me, so yea. Anyways, they sped up all fast once the other cars cleared out of the way and passed me (geez they were speeding) and I didn't bother to speed up to pass them or anything like that. But then they slow down again because there was a car in front of them and I was able to pass (now I was going the speed limit minding my own business!!). And once again they sped by me real quick.. you know how you can tell when someone is trying to act real cocky with their car and speed off all fast. Yeah... I thought it was annoying. I don't try to race or speed because one, I barely just turned 16 and second, I'm not about to risk wrecking my Maverick! But when I pass older cars, fixed up or not, most are pretty cool and don't try to speed and rev their engines and what not. I just thought this was annoying and I wanted to see if people do this to you too.

Why can't people just drive calm on the road and control their speed-like urges?? It's unsafe, and it's extremely irritating! :hmmm:

Sounds like the cocky stang driver didnt like getting passed by a Maverick. Some stang owners think there is only 1 Ford. Probably what you encountered. I think you handled yourself fine and you have a wonderful grasp of the responsibility of owning these amazing cars.

You have a lot of tolerance, control, and smarts for a young kid. Nice going!

I was behind a 66 vette, at a stoplight(he left the gas-station before I did), and when the light went green he took off---impressively-- I'll give him that, and this happened at a relatively busy time of day. And a bright yellow car doesn't exactly blend in with traffic.

I don't want to throw my car away, or have my premiums go up, especially because of some a**hole in a vette.

Maybe he was trying to catch up to you so he could steal a glance at a Mav? :) Sadly, I do that sometimes. If I see a really nice car, I may speed up a little to catch up to it just so I can hear it :D Not that I get all ignorant and do 90 or anything, just a casual creep up on em kinda thing :D It drives the wife crazy when I roll the windows down in the middle of the winter to hear a Mustang with flows LOL.

We have alot of streetracing here and everytime a Civic or Integra sees the hood scoop on the Maverick they think I want to race. Its irritating to the point I dodge certain areas to avoid this when driving through town. The more responsible drivers, the safer it is for our MAVERICKS!!!!

I think I'd let him make the holes in traffic, adn if it was me, I'd get up behind him and keep close. Just remember, you're not speeding, you're Qualifying :D

To go along with what stock hatch was saying, maybe he just wanted to see who was driving your car, been there done that, same scenario

You did the right thing, you are wise beyond your years!(y)

It all started when the 70 Maverick outsold the 65 Mustang:)

yeah other fast cars seem to have a certain respect for ours...it is those stinkin ricers that always want to be taught a lesson. gonna have to find another teacher though...much more often than not, we just shake our heads at them and just laugh.
