I have been looking for the other pair of 15” ansens for over a year now and I have finally given up. I just bought a set of magnum 400s as they seemed to be the easiest and most likely to not cause issues . Car is a 6cyl, 1970. What is the best size that will fit the rim and car and give a good look? Loads of opinions on here. It seems like 205/70 is what I am finding . I currently have 205/70 on my stock steel wheels, but theu look dumb because the wheel is only 4.5” wide. These new wheels are 6”, so maybe they would look right ?
I have a set of 15 inch Magnum 400s on my 72 6 cylinder with 215-65-15 Cooper cobras and I like the set up quite a bit. Looks like they make them in 215-70-14. If you like RWL tires could be a good choice. If you have the original driven gear for the speedometer cable then you will probably need to change it to keep the speedometer accurate.
215/60 front and 225/ 60 rear on 14's - supercharged straight six / T5 /Bench Seat / AM Radio / : . .. . . . have fun
Too short. Especially the 215. When I had 14-inch wheels, I ran 235/60. They are 25 inches in diameter...
Trying to find 14" white wall is like finding a grain of salt in a bucket of sand, and when you do find them you'll have to sell your first born for them
That's because they're lame and nobody wants them. Makes no sense to produce something there is nearly no market for...
Try Belle Tire if ones in your area, if not they probably can ship. I have General on my 7" Factory Mag 500 wheels. I love the General Tires, quiet and good ride. I think rear are 225/70's Tires in Size 205/70R14 | Belle Tire
I have been in the tire business for years. 14 inch tires are harder to find due to how new cars have marched forward into bigger rim sizing. Demand has gone down and most companies drop sizing offers that don't sell, but you can still find a few companies consciously trying to fill demand for 14s. Another issue is that most websites that sell tires do not lend themselves toward searching strictly by rim size either. The most productive search I just did involved the use of wildcards ..... "*****". If you Google search "2**/**r14". you will get results for tires in 200 or more mm of sidewall width that fit a 14 inch rim. It is easy to refine your results from that first search and give you better ideas where to look. If looking for a 175, 185, or 195, substitute a 1**. Hankook makes a narrow whitewall Kinergy ST in a 215/75/14 if you are after a traditional look. On the right car, like that Sprint, dog dishes and the whitewalls look great. Hankook also makes an array of other 14" tires that are regular blackwall tires. They are decent touring tires if you haven't had any experience with them. https://www.prioritytire.com/by-bra...cR4d3rmWRKbME9NX7ZXZWi36iNsOfFFkaAtVhEALw_wcB BF Goodrich still makes Radial TA in some performance sizes.... 235/60r14 and others and you can get raised white letters, too if you are looking to build a retro looking car. Cooper Cobra and their sister brand Futura still make some offerings for 14 inch wheels. They are closely affiliated with Pep Boys. This pretty much covers the mid-grade brands that I trust. I saw some other brands in the search that I have NEVER seen before, so buyer beware. Your tire is your one contact point on the road. They may look similar but a good tire makes a big difference over bargain basement stuff.
