I'm not sure why this is, but I need to correct the uneven ride height on the front end. It's all the stock configuration at this point. what do i do
I think you need to take a good look at your suspension first. Is there damage, are the busing and other components worn out and is there a measurable difference in spring height. Early cars had issues with cracks in the shock towers where the control arm mounts. I believe '74 and up got additional structural support. Look in my build and you can see where I added them. Micah
I had a feeling I should've added this...most of the front end I have redone new. new springs, shocks, lower control arms, upper ball joints, almost all steering components just replaced. I think this issue originally arose with the new springs and shocks but I don't remember. can't find pictures of both sides before. yes it's at least a 1-1/2 difference don't know about cracks. I'll have to investigate more when I tear all this back out in the future.
Unless chassis is twisted it's impossible for one side in front to be high/low and not affect rear. My Fairlane gave me fits, at some point it had a leaf added to each rear spring. That was so far in past, platina matched the orig. Problem started as high in rear, had that cat in heat look. Easy, remove helper leafs. Instant disaster, left rear low, RF high. The leafs I removed were arched differently (both had same number). I tried adding right leaf to left spring, left too high, RF low. ARRGHHH... OK I ordered a new set of rear springs installed, left low again. Called spring Co and they sent me another spring. Still low on left, swapped R & L , still low on left, high on RF. At that point the ole brain was so addled I left it alone for a few months. Ding, ding, round #2 or was it round #8? I don't remember exact sequence here. I installed one of the springs I'd removed from Comet, RF low LR high. swapped orig front springs R to L no difference, right still high. Here's where it gets foggy. Installed a pair of new '67 Fairlane 6cyl springs and height was close on each side. I installed additional bottom leaf in I think LR, it's within 3/16" on either side. For grins, I measured my Cobra that has 113K mi and back in day was a regular whippin' boy. Everything in rear suspension is original, front is rebuilt. Approx 1/16" difference side to side. EDIT Just remembered, for a short while I ran a single air shock on LR. That did allow leveling out.
Ok I took pictures of all my measurements. This thing is all wonky. The uneven rear can't possibly throw off the front THAT much apart from left to right In order. LR LF RF RR
WoW 29 3/8" on RF, this thing a 4x4?? With install of aluminum head & intake 5.0, my Comet was nose up. I installed a set of springs for 6 cylinder, came down nice. Rear is a bit low as springs have sagged, but I like the look. With original springs.. https://www.mmb.maverick.to/attachments/11cometgtstripe1_zpsd7b7c8d3-jpg.126907/
I don't know man. Those are factory replacement springs for the v8. Here was before I just got done with a lot of new steering components too and needs to be aligned ASAP. But I was hoping to be able to address this first
Excessive positive camber can make tires "tippy-toe that increases height. I perform my own alignments using a digital angle gauge and Weaver toe-in scale. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/the-...4TVOEI8bX7rgHqartxXeaPrvl7bcbn2QaAvDlEALw_wcB
