Does anyone know the specs to the spring that goes from the frame to the kickdown rod on my c4 trans? i lost it months ago when i replaced the trans. now it does not shift right... i know i will need it... i am about to order a new carb from pepboys. i am hoping that will fix the not staying running part.. but the trans wont shift right either way cause of the spring.

    Spring

It should be just a little bit stronger than your throttle
spring. I say that since you are returning a rod instead
    of a flexible cable.
Buy and assortment of springs at a parts store-sold in
small packages usually- and test several until you get
the one that you want. You may even be able to use
2-maybe 1 inside of another. It should not be too strong
so as to interfere with the throttle.

You are correct that it will not shift without that installed
properly. Without it, your tranny may not shift at correct
    RPM's.

yeah matt... the spring on a c4 that goes from the frame to the kickdown rod. that holds tension on it.

c-4 tranny.... just manual shift it......the other thing to look at is the vacuum modulator.... i never had a spring on my kick down and it worked fine....now i dont use a kick down....i just manually shift it with the floor shifter

I find that Pep Boys usually has higher prices then most places.

Might be cheaper to just get a rebuild kit for the carb on there. Got mine for $12.99. It's not to hard, you just replace all the little pieces with the same looking piece out of the kit, and read the directions carefully on how to set the float and stuff.

nicethought jamie.. did jsut that exactly.... way worse than before now... and thats after checking and rechecking everything for three days.. bout fed up with it... gonna jsut replace it.. if that dont work im getting rid of the car.. if it does.. then i am willing to work on it more.. took a month of soul searching to come to that conclusion. but its whats best for a non existent budget. and non existent time to work on it.
