I was think of picking up a 36R but it might be close on the width. What battery size are you running in your Maverick or Comet?

I believe they came with Group 24 batteries but a Group 35 should fit.

Optima red top in trunk, it is a 34 I believe. Just a bit too short for the factory tray.

I think that Group 24F battery was virtually the standard for Fords of the era. I know it's what was used in my 1968 Cougar, my 1969 Cougar, my 1970 Galaxie 500, and my 1974 LTD.

Thanks for all the input. I purchased a Motomaster 24F from Canadian Tire. I found however, the dimensions were 9-15/16 “ long by 6-5/8” wide by 8 “ high. I measured it up at the store and it is identical to a 24 they had on the shelf. Looks like Motomaster is consolidating sizes and the size is slightly smaller than this chart I found. The battery was made in the USA but I couldn’t tell which supplier it is.
