Maybe some more pics?[/QUOTE] Here you are... The pic of the green Mav, is what it looked like when I bought it.
maverick5946, Road racing, it is just a club event,(Northwoods Shelby and Ford Club), once a year we meet at Road America, in Elkhart Lake WI.(three days-Fri to Sun with Sat being timed runs and Fri and Sun being "touring" or run as fast as you want but non-competitive. Just awesome fun!!! Ran a best lap time of 2min48sec, doesn't sound too impressive until you think that the track is 4 miles long with 14 turns, that averages about 85 mph.
I really couldn't tell ya. Sorry about that. I have a short clip of it from last year('04) but couldn't get it to upload.
What can you tell us about the suspension mods done to car to make it handle? Sway bars, shocks, springs, ect.
Where to start...... Suspension stuff is Koni shocks all around, Global West tubular upper control arms, boxed factory style lowers, 1 1/8" front sway bar, chopped 620lb. springs in front, 7/8" rear bar, 150lb. rear springs with aluminum front eye bushing(Global West) and sliding rear shackles. Underhood is a 347, Victor Jr. heads and intake, 750 Holley, 10.8:1, Canton t-style oil pan(road race), Comp Cams XE274(519 int, 523 ex) Hydr. lifters, 1.6 rockers, etc.etc.etc.
sound good to me! what 1-1/8 bar did you use? what whats the part number for the rear konis? sorry for questions but i'm into some handling if you know what i mean.
Same here! What bar? Part#s if you can. A lot of members would like to know about the front sway bar!
Sorry about the late reply..... The sway bar is for '65-'66 Mustang, the sway bar mounts need to be moved forward a little to let the end links sit up straight. They lean back a little bit if you use the factory location. The shocks are for Mustang as well,# KON-821389, these shocks have a stud on each end unlike a Maverick with a stud on the bottom and an eyelet on top. I cut part of the top stud off and slid a female threaded hime joint over the stud and welded it to the top of the shock, the top part of the shock isn't the pressurized part,so I figured it was safe. What I did was measure the shock that was on my car compressed, and extended, and made it as close to the same as possible so that I didn't have a problem with it not having enough travel. I can take pics of them in the car if you like, but that might not be till Friday. No problem with questions, I just hope I can answer them good enough to help.
on the sway bar.. yeah i figured it was a mustang one... i used a 1 inch one off a 67-68.. also had the same problem with the end links. but yeah i'd love detailed pics of the front sway bar and what you did to the rear shocks. i just found out two months ago the kyb discounted the rear Gas Adjust they only have GRB's so when you said you had konis i was like YEAH! but now i understand what you did but would still love a picture of it!
