    Hello Community

I was gifted a rear view camera that I wanted to install onto my 74 maverick. Couple of issues I was hoping to get help with:

    1. My cigarette lighter does not work. I assumed it would be a fuse issue so I replaced the fuse but still no power. I need the lighter port to work in order to power the screen. When poking around in there with a screwdriver I did see a spark when I touched inside in the rear, not sure if that means anything. What are my next steps to test or fix?

    2. I realized that there are only two mounting holes for the license plate on my car. They are the bottom ones. Am I good /clear to drill out the top holes? I am having doubts because I know the gas tank is in this area. Just don’t know if previous owner blanked them out or if this is a factory decision.

    Thank you!!

Spark = power.. Fuse probably blown now. If hazards are operating fuse is good.

If used for it's intended purpose, it's about a 99% acids from ash have corroded inner socket contact. Never be reliable, replace it.. AFAK a in dash Ford lighter socket from era is a Ford lighter socket.

Here ya go D3DZ-15055-A, fits late '72 up Maverick.

    Thank you both.
I will replace the fuse once again. You are correct, when I was trying to clean off the corrosion is when I got the light. I will order a replacement socket right now.

Dumb question, How do I remove the one currently installed?

    Thanks

First, disconnect the battery, then open the ash tray, push down on upper tab to release the ash tray, then you can get behind to the cigar socket, pull off the blue wire/plug and can unscrew the outer sleeve of the socket and should all come off...........suggest having glove on so you don't cut up you hand on any sharp metal edges!
