Hey guys! So my previous turn signal switch was worn out to the point where you couldn't trigger the left hand blinkers. I got a new one and installed it, and while the hazard light switch works as well as the lights themselves neither the left nor right hand signals trigger when activated. Don't know what it could be since the hazard switch works, anyone run into this problem before?

I have the feeling that your wiring on the new switch is not matching up with the cars wiring. There are a staggering number of variations to the directional signal switches - even in the same model year. If you still have the old switch. Compare the wiring connection plug. Look to make sure the color coded wires are all in the same place in the plug. The wires are easy to move around. There is a little release tool that allows you to pop out the wire and move it to a new spot.

    What Eric said..

The four ways operate from a different voltage source, be sure fuse for signals is OK.

Okay, so I looked at the original and it appeared that your feeling was correct. Upon correcting in though the hazards flash regardless if the switch is on or off. Very weird, definitely feel like this is where the problem lies though. Thank you for your response!

Have you checked the flasher? There is one for the hazzards and one for the turn signals.

That's correct, hazards do not require ign to be on.. As I stated prior different voltage source. As pointed out by Rick, there are separate flashers as well.

Since fourways operate, wiring from signal sw to tail lights should be correct, also common to signals.

Sometime back I posted a switch wiring diagram. Power supply fuses are probably not correct for your Mav(think this is a '76) but the color coding should be same. It is sam on my '72 & even Fairlanes. On original switches it's common for light blue wire to be broken on signal cam, kills signals. If green is broken, are no brake lights.

Does it look like any of the wires are mis-matched at the connector? Like I said earlier there is a little tool that will release them so they can be moved around to the right pin.
