Soooo... I put the 302 in the Mav. Was under trying to get the stupid driver side motor mounts in when I noticed the drain plug is on the rear of the hump, thus it sits tight right against the belly bar.
Please tell me its possible to take the oil pan out without pulling the engine? Do they make ones with side darin plugs?

I discovered same problem with my 302 previously used in a truck.

If you ever need to remove pan you can remove that bar. Only 2 bolt so no biggy

I've not reinstalled my bar yet but after a failed test fit I had to ground bar were plug would hit and reweld for strength.

After test fit 2 I still needed more clearence. My solution will be square washers to put between bar and frame until clearance is achieved. Will need longer bolt.

I'll let you know in a few day how this works out.

And that pan you list from summit could have worked for me but i'm making mine work.

It is possible to remove oil pan with engine in the car, you will have to remove the cross brace and drop down the idler arm (2 bolts that go through the frame ) . If the engine does not have a one piece oil pan gasket now is the time to put one on as it will be difficult to put all the pieces of the 4 piece type back on and keep in place .

Orig pans have drain to side and apparently shorter sump than yours.

Your bar could be modified by welding on offset mounting brackets.

Well Sh*t, pan doesnt fit. Hits the pickup . You can see where the well is shorter in length, but same depth... CanI get a different pickup? Or a diff pan? I got a pan for a 302 Maverick.

What gasket did you use? The 1 piece or that 4 piece?

One piece. I am sure someone with more experience would have had it on in a snap.

Especially if you haven't replaced seal.

Possibly remains of a previously replaced seal...

Hey saw you got it back together. Good stuff.

For anyone else referring to this in the future. Get a Melling Oil pump with the full screen on the pickup. It may save you grief later on. The stock type pickup has a bypass feature that if clogged will allow small junk, like dried up valve seals, to get sucked into the pump and jam it. Then you break the oil pump drive rod.
Ask me how I know that one ... twice!!!!! .... grrrr.
