I patched driver & passenger door. Had to weld 2 holes in trunk as well.

Not tooting my horn but i think patch turned out nicely. Hide nicely under primer.

I've had days when the best I could do is weld holes into things.

Oh man....That looks great! You even used metallic? I thought metallic had its own learning curve. No paint jail, no years with your car in 1000 pieces. You should be pleased....and you have good skills too. You set the bar kind of high mister....lol, I gotta try it sometime.

    Thanks Stu
I did lots of reading and watched guys paint on youtube. Lots of tips and motivation from you guys on here as well.

As for the metallic paint! Yeah i heard not a good first timer paint to use. I,ve never painted a car before so I went in dumb and blind.
Best advice i heard and i,m passing it on.

"Pick paint you like/want and learn to use it"

And heck yeah! No paint Jail and no 10 year ground up restoration. And spare cash in my pocket with experience to improve on.

I,ll tell anyone interested in painting their own car to go for it! DON,T BE SCARRED!

    As for setting Bar high?

I'll share. 27 jun 2019 I had total hip replacement (right hip). 4 months into recovery I started this restoration as a personal challenge. Side benefits of having to get down, up and under car to replace pieces and parts where painful most time but assisted in my recovery. Still improving to this day.

    Physical Therapy in my garage.

Ohhhh crap!!! I aint done yet:slap:

Stubborn and tenacious. lol...traits that help you push through pain and traits needed to restore one of these cars, or any old car for that matter. I shall not complain about crawling under my car again. keep up the good work.

When enjoying a task you enjoy, pain seems get pushed into back of your mind.

If you were doing therapy exercises, every moment would be excruciating.

Not Comet/maverick related but Comet/maverick inspired.

You guy remembered my first paint job (comet)!

My poor mustang got cut in front of again as i,m prepping it as my 2nd DIY paint job.

Well and Deer rammed into me on way to work in my Civic a few weeks ago and tore up fender and door. Dead deer!!!! Old 97 civic aint ready to quit yet and i need more practice painting. Civic became my 2nd job and mustang hopefully will finally be 3rd.

Not perfect but damn good feeling doing it myself. Turned out better than Comet i think.

    Daughter thinks its tooo shiny!

Lol....Too shiny??? Nay. Must mean your getting the hang of it. Shoot, already passed the learning curve and ready to unleash perfection on that Mustang! Nice job. I had a 91 civic for 15 years. It got stolen off my driveway, and never recovered.
