I was wondering what kind of MPG I should expect on my Maverick...I have a 250 I6...My fuel gauge is broken,I got a new one, but I am gonna leave the install to my MUCH more experienced Hubby....I have been driving it around in the city and trying to remember what the odometer read when I tank up/gallons I put...I think I am getting about 16mpg? Is that about right?

Yes, you should be getting at least 16, most likely about 18 in town as long as the car is in good tune.

I'm kinda in the same boat as John. I get 8-10 mpg so anything you get should be better than that or you have a serious problem to address. :D

I would hafta say 20-25 highway as a guess??? Just don't hate me if I'm wrong!!:162: That's about what my 200 got (at first, but we won't go there);) Good luck!! Preston

the Maverick gets less than 1 mpg....on a good day. Normally uses about 1 1/2 gallons each time I run it down the strip:49:

Don & Todd.....man you guys need to tune-up you rides :D

Seriously, While at the Round-up we cruised to Knightstown, not sure how far it is round trip. But it took a little over 5 gallons. I had Barry's son with me and it would have used more gas cause I was just about to pull beside Stephen on the 2 lane highway and have a little fun with him and his Comet, just when I was getting over in the next lane......here come a po-po in the other direction....might have been ugly :yup:

when i had the 170 in my maverick with the 3 speed manual i drove it from kentucky all the way to arizona back in september 2003 when i got off orders for OEF. The car had a 1 bbl carb and cruising no faster than 65 MPH i got 36 mpg on average the entire trip.

if everything is running correctly and the carb is tuned you should be getting about 28 mpg minimum....

    even with the 250 cid
