Hi, I just got my first car, its a 74 maverick. I only payed $1000 for it. It has the 250 i6. The body is in pretty good shape, its white with gold pinstripes. It has a little rust on the doors and quarter panels but i'll fix that. The green interior is in Perfect condition except for a small tear in the front seat. The black vynal roof is also in PERFECT condition with not a tear or crack on it. The best part of it is that it only has 49,000 miles. The car was owned by a old couple who bought it new. They got it serviced every year at the gas station near their house. Recently the husband pasted away and the wife, in her 80's, had to sell the car. I've been looking for parts to make it faster and handle better like exhaust headers, high performance shocks etc. but i can't find anything for the 250 , can anyone tell me where I can find performance parts for it.
congrats on the find you might wanna try this site www.fordsix.com they got some need info on there. i have a maverick with a 250 in it too, however not to many people fix them up on this site as compared to that one. the thing is mavericks are kinda outcasts there.. mostly ruled my mustang owners but the motors the same and you can get the ideas. this site http://www.fordsixparts.com/ also has some aftermarket parts for the 250. as for shocks.. personally i would go with kybs.. there are better shocks out there, but for the price you can't beat it! you can get them at www.summitracing.com other suspension parts you can also get like front and rear sway bars... you can always up grade to a 600lbs coil and upgrade to poly bushings and dump those rubber ones you can get them at any where that carries enegry suspention good luck on your maverick.. btw you should post a picture of your maverick
