I should put a rear view mirror in my car. In Ohio they are not mandatory, but I suck at backing up a car, so I need it. I have the mirror that came out, its in good shape. Plus ive seen replacements that look the same. Here is my question...

Is there a better option then going with my original or facsimile there of? Is there something bigger or better I should look at glueing to my nice new windshield?

Before I installed my headliner I ran a switched hot wire, along with ground wire, to the center of the windshield so I could use a 90 something Oldsmobile Alero auto dim with compass mirror that I got at the junkyard for $7.00. I'm sure you could tuck the wire behind the windshield gasket if you had to. I glued the Alero's button to the windshield a couple inches higher than where the Maverick button was from the factory to get it out of the way.

Whatever mirror you decide on, stick with a factory OEM - (Ford, Dodge, GM - any OEM) - because they have a clear, undistorted view. It seems to me that all the reproduction mirrors I have tried have a very low grade glass and silvering process and they just don't give the same clarity of factory glass.
