Terry, you have a PM. My dad's gone off the deep end or something. He goes from thinking it's awesome to not wanting anything to do with it. He says if my brother buys that car he's finding somewhere else to put it, "it ain't going in HIS driveway." He waits till NOW, the VERY last minute to say this. I just can't understand why at the very last minute he tottally changes his mind. He dosen't want my brother to buy it, he dosen't want to go look at it, he dosen't want nothing to do with it. We have been looking forward to this all week. P!$$ed off dose not even BEGIN to explain how angry I am right now. I don't know what to say.
Hey Terry, I tried your home and cell # and no one answered. Were gonna go ahead and start headin' down that way.
Look at the grand am in my sig 225,000 miles yes 20hp.....:16suspect PS: the moped is faster I've got it bought regardless, so it's up to where we put it
YOu would be refering to 2.3L or 2.4L sohc or dohc motor. They are under the cover on the top part of the motor. Underneath is an ignition control module a spark distribution cap but it looks a battle ship and 4 small rubber boots going to the spark plugs.
Jamie/Tylar ,if I had room in my driveway I would let you store it here .If you knew someone who might want a 66 Vailant for cheap. I had one of those Grand-Ams that was'nt so Grand.I paid $500 for it and drove it for 5yrs and sold it for $500. The plugs are under the cover on the valve cover, there are no wires. As far as your dad changing his mind ;did you ask him why? I am sure he has his reasons. I recall when my older borther and I wanted to buy a '40 Ford coupe to fix up and dad said "No way your putting that peice of junk in my yard" .We could have bought it for $75 (this was in 1973). Then about 6 months later my brother brought home(with out asking dad) a '57 Ford he paid $35 for but it did run. Boy was dad pissed-off. And so started a life-time addiction to cars!
My dad bought the grandam for $100 and it ran enough to get it home. After sitting in our driveway for 2 years it doesn't even run anymore. As for looks it has a cracked windshield, flaking clearcoat, chipping paint and dents in the hood, doors, fenders and trunk and has 2 flat tires, one of them is a space saver spare. Very much of an eyesore. Truly, I would love to run it off a cliff :evilsmile as it would probably take double what I payed for my mav to get it running and driving again with any sort of reliability. It Definatly looks a lot worse than my maverick: http://hawkco.com/maverick/Mav3%2011-15-2003.jpg BTW terry, ygpm
Yea it's the DOHC/POS. Went to look at the 70' Mav today with my grandpa. Turns out the car has 46,000 original miles and has been sitting since 2002. Don't know how they got so far off with the numbers. It's got about a baseball size rust hole in the passenger fender and about a basketball size dent just above the rear window on the roof. It's green with black interior. The engine is NICE! I have no doubt this car has 46,000 original miles. It has AWESOME compression still for what it is. Takes a little muscle to turn it over by hand when it hits the compression. The car has new EVERYTHING under the hood as of 2002. New radiator hoses, belts, sparkplugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button, points, condenser, and it all still looks great. Even though it's low miles, I'm thinking at this point that it would be better suited as a parts car. It's got the small bumpers, but the front one has been bent up pretty good. Other then that, the car is rust and dent free, the doors, quarter panels, trunk, rear bumper, hoood and all that are nearly flawless. The interior still has a nearly flawless black viynal bench seat and rear seat. Unfortunately the dash pad has to cracks right in the center. Definately a much diffrent story on that car then I was expecting. I'm thinking with Terry's car and this 70' as parts we can come up with one fine lookin' Maverick. It was great meeting you and the other dude Saturday Terry. (Who was the other guy again, sorry I forgot)
That was Earl Branham; he's the Georiga Coordinator for MCCI. He is a great guy, friend, and resource. You boys would do very well to get to know him.
Ok, now I remember! I'm sorry Earl, no offense. This whole weekend seems like a blur, been wide open. I'm sure we'll be gettin' to know all you guys alot better. Good to know we got guys like yall so close by.
Hmm, kinda funny how I started out looking for me a car and my brother ends up buying both the cars I was going to get and I end up with... no car just like I began with.
Hey terry, the reason we want you to bring it now is we would spend $60 MINIMUM on gas just to get it to our house using our grandpas motorhome
