Hello, everyone. I have a 77 Maverick with a 200 i6 in it. I took all three bolts out of the pump, and it moves, but I can't get it out to save my life. Am I missing something?
There are a couple of bracket bolts in close to the water pump, try taking them loose, one of the flanges or brackets might be catching on the water pump. I think the impeller is inside the block or the houseing as well, so if there is some crud built up, you will feel that when you try pulling it out while turning the pump, it will catch. Just keep turning it until you break that stuff loose.
Find the rest of the bolts holding that bracket on and loosen them far enough that it falls out of the way, or just remove it. The pump usually has to come straight out a bit for the impeller to clear the housing/block.
Update< I just looked at mine, its 3 feet away on the lift... there are two bolts behind the alternator on the lower part of block that hold that bracket in place. That bracket holds my AC pump and the alternator
