o.k. i got a dist. from M.A.V., today and took the "pertronix" out of mine and put the points in. i talked to my carb. man and he said it was not gas. if this doesn't change anything i will swap out the coil next. thanks for all the suggestions ...frank...
Duh. Just like finding your keys. It's always the last place you look. Remember, we are talking Frank, here.
Thats because you stop looking when you find it....so you always find it in the last place you look. Save time and look in the last place first next time
with my dealing with "stuff"..it will do it "one more time".. even when i get it fixed. when i put the points back in they would not fire at all. i could break them with a screwdriver and no spark...then everywhere i touched the dist. it would spark...finaly they started sparking on the breaker pad and has been working from then on... ...haunted... ...frank...
I had that happen once , I had the ground in the wrong place, seems like under the points(?). Been years since I even looked at a point type distributor. But they were grounded wrong. Moved the wire and worked fine.
I had a problem with the Sprint many moons ago. The little ground wire was not crimped correctly, So after a few years it broke. But to look at it, it looked fine. As soon as the breaker plate moved, the ring terminal separated form the wire it was supposed to be connect to, thus, killing the motor. As soon as the moter stopped, the breaker plate moved back, the connection was made, and the car would start back up.
