i have been reading about the mustang II suspension swap for a while now and i looked at many pictures of the swap and a lot of people put a hunk of metal in between the engine bay that looks like it goes through the engine.
so i was wondering if any of you smarter people know anything about this?

Don't know if I'm any smarter...but the plate you are talking about is a motor plate. They are used mainly in racing, but you will also see them in street/strip cars. Makes a little more room for headers, and is more solid than most factory mounts, which translates into a harsher ride on the street. However, on a MII swap, it also ties the front rails together nicely, making for a more solid app since you're cutting on the main frame rails to install the MII rack.

I'm sure someone else can chime in here, but that is basically what they do.

    HTH...Later,
