I use LED bulb replacements my Comet replacing the 1157's. Quite an improvement!

There are two makers right now easy performance and digi-tails. Both are great options, with easy you get multiple sequences you can use but no reverse lights. With digi you only have one sequence but you have led reverse lights and they seem to fit better.

I created my own using VERY bright flat panel white LEDs from eBay and a modern version of the Cougar controller.

If you don't do sequential, at least do the back up light with a flat panel LED. Amazing how much different. Panels are not expensive.

If I remember correctly, each panel puts out close to twice the lumens/CP of an 1157 bulb. So when they are all lit, you cant miss my stop lights.

I also used them in my front turn signals but this requires some electrical engineering (see avatar).

Yep ! We have three Mavericks and one Comet with the sequential's from EASY PERFORMANCE . They work great and I highly recommend them. Improved visibility and the LEDs last longer .

    Shorty,
I like how the bright the running lights are. I used a smaller panel in the reflective area because I did not want it to be too bright. The light passes through this area a little differently. If I did it again, I would use a larger panel there.

Also, I like how the aftermarket set up includes the reflector area into the sequential brake light. Nice and bright.

How is the back up light?

I need to take a couple pictures with them on the car.

    Hey Greasemonkey:
Here's a short video of the COMET sequential taillights . Running Lights , LEFT & RIGHT turns , Four-Ways, and
Brake Lights . Really made a difference and most folks at the car shows like them. Whadayathink ?

I really like the way they look on a comet. I kind of wish Mavericks had a little bigger tail light for the sequential and as an added bonus they draw less amperage. Looks nice.

Chip, did you have to move the backup lights to the valence because of the LEDs or was that just your choice? Look great btw. - Matt

    Micah,

I really like your tail lights as they fill the entire area of the lenses. At the moment I still have an incandescent bulb in the backup sockets and have not connected the sequencing but after seeing Cometized I will get after it as soon as it warms up a little here.

    Hi Matt:
I converted my COMETS to Dual-Taillights by finding a 'donor' set and splitting the lenses , changing the sockets to accommodate the new dual setup , painted the interior of the housing Flat White , Installed brightest bulbs I could find and they worked great . The DUAL Taillight was performed since I felt I needed MORE visibilty . We installed the back-up lights in 1996 in my driveway at home. I don't think they HAD LED taillights then or I would have used them. Anyway .. We liked the look of the Mustang Back-Up lights and Bill Roberts removed the valance and we layed out the locations we thought would look good on the Comet and used the GASKET to form the area before cutting the valance . Bill did this in about 4 hours and it we put this up on my CAMEO website in case anyone out there wanted to do the same. I see a LOT of them around now so I guess some have performed the same operation. There's just a small amount of metal that had to be trimmed . Then we bolted the lights to the valance and hooked them up. Great visibility and neat look . I tell everyone (at first) that it 'came' with them, along with my Sealed COWL AREA and is a "CANADIAN" Comet . Eventually I fess up and tell them that WE modified them . I've since changed to the SEQUENTIAL TAILLIGHTS from Easy Performance . I sent him a set of COMET housings and he made the first
set for a Comet and shipped them back to me just before the Last HOT ROD Power Tour . They were a Big Hit !
If you want to check out the installation visit my website . Thanks for noticing.
