Is it possible anywhere to get new brake drums for the front on my 1975 Maverick? My first guess is no, but you never know. Failing that, maybe a good source for almost new ones, that is, that have most of the original material srill on them. Thanks a lot to everyone for the past help I've received.
You will get suggestions to switch over to disc - which is a good idea for a driver car. But to answer your question, Rock Auto shows the Raybestos 1660R in stock. http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...el+hub,drum,1744?a=Referer+www.bing.com+URL+/
Hey, buddy, thanks for such a quick reply. Guess I shoulda specified mine is 4.1l 1nd 250 cubic inches. My mechanic tells me that the original specs were something like 10.060 inches diameter, if that makes sense, so I think none of those would fit. But at least it's a start. I don't know what that CENTRIC 12361016 C-TEK Standard Brake Drum-Preferred is, but there's only one anyway. I was thinking that maybe if I can find some used from a salvage yard, if they have close to original specs on them, then maybe I could have them turned if need be and that would give it a good long life anyway. Thoughts? Thaks again.
The Raybestos 1660R drum referenced above has a nominal diameter of 10.00", discard diameter is 10.06" and an outer diameter of 12.38". It is the only 5 lug drum replacement for the front.
The 1660R is also listed for the 250CID Maverick. I would not mess around finding old drums. There has to be a set of new ones someplace. I could check Hollander and see what crosses - but I'm sure that 1660R is the right one.
I would call Raybestos directly and ask them where you can locate 2 of the professional grade 1660R or 2 of the plus grade 1660 .... 1-800-323-0354
