You were right, I thought as much also but I didn't want to risk taking too much out and end up regretting it. It'll work for now so I'm much happier. I'll be glad to not have to do this job again for awhile... Thanks mojo! I drove it a bit today, it handles so much better!
My car was a big bumper 74, originally a 250 auto, and the factory springs had a spring rate of 225/inch and 1328 lbs. which seems softer than all the replacement stuff on the moog chart. These #s were taken off the factory tag. someone cut them, but I do not know how many coils were cut. If the car sits too low, they will get replaced.
I would have stopped at 1 coil. Usually, 3/4 to 1 full coil does the trick, unless you have some extra stiff springs.
That was with iron heads/intake, this is how it sits with aluminum heads/intake. Shaved some weight of and gained a little height back
