another newby question? Is it nessasary to trim the felpro gasket when installing a new intake manifold?

Should I put the permatex ultra black around the water ports?

The gasket instructions call for using tack to hold gasket in place... Is this also nessasary?

    Thanks guys.

I use Gaskacinch to glue the gasket to the cylinder head and I use blue RTV around the water jackets. I also glue the cork end-seals with 3M weatherstrip adhesive.

Noticed this was sheered off from what looks like the exhaust.

    Ideas on what this is?

    Thanks

The tube pictured uses exhaust heat to warm the thermostat coil. The threaded end should connect to your thermostat cover assuming someone hasn't replaced the heated unit with an electric powered cover and coil.

Which gasket, and what part of the gasket are you referring to? On stock replacement gaskets, I don't do any trimming. Some of the Felpro performance gaskets are universal for 302 and 351, so some trimming on the water jacket openings is necessary.

Thanks guys. I have the Fel-pro 1250 gaskets.

Ordered some tack and will trim the excess.

The choke tube sheered off right into exhaust manifold.

I have some Doug's headers and will try and install them while I have everything off.

    Appreciate all the help guys.
