After converting my car to a 302/V8 with a Manual Transmission I have experience with the linkage parts. Now that I am looking to convert my 250/I6 to manual I had been on the lookout for parts as well. Turns out that Ford did not offer the 250/I6 with a manual transmission in Mavericks until 1974. I had already acquired the early 170/200 6-cylinder linkage but it turned out to be the wrong parts. Keep in mind the only part that crosses with another Ford car for manual tranmission linkage is the engine side z-bar mount on a 170/200 engine (same as Mustang). All other parts are unique. I finally tracked down a 250 Z-Bar and to my surprise it uses a unique frame side mount but utilizes the 302 Engine side Mount. Here are some pictures.

FYI ... the 170/200 z-bar is being returned to Green Sales since I cant use it. MNTony has purchased the 302 z-bar -

    great pictures!

does anyone know where you can find the engine pivot ball adapter that bolts to newer blocks (bell housing/trans) that do not have the threaded hole for the stock engine pivot ball?

I didnt know the 250 was different than the 200. I know I used my 200 linkage with a 302 for many years. It didnt take a whole lot of modification to get it to work. When I redid my Sprint, I got the correct linkage and sold the modified stuff to another guy. So its still in use today.

The 250 block is wider than than the 170/200 block ... The 250 z-bar is about 1 inch shorter than the 200 z-bar and about 1 inch longer than the 302 z-bar ...

Bet you paid a pretty penny for the parts you got at Greens. They are located near me in Cincinnati and I just have a hard time paying their prices. Of course when you need something and they are the only one who has it,what the hey.On a side note, you would not believe the stuff they throw away. When they buy parts from a dealer (NOS) and it is shipped in.If its not tagged with a part number or in the original box they pitch it.The reason I know this is my one son worked for them right out of high school before he left for college. He brought so much stuff home with him everday I finally had to put a stop to it.I don't fault them since there are so many parts and it takes time and money to figure out what all that stuff is.I just wish they would put it aside and take a trailer full of it to the swap meets and just let people pick thru it.To much trouble I guess.Such a waste though.

Some parts are reasonable and some parts are outrageous. I lucked out with the Z-bar ... The 250 z-bar and frame bracket cost me $45 ... The 200 z-bar and frame bracket were 3X that much  - they are letting me return the 200 parts that I don't need for a full refund .... I've spent quite a bit of money with them over the years - mostly on my 71 Grabber. They have pics of my car on their website ....

I hope I didn't sound like I was picking on them.I didn't mean to do that. It's just like some salvage yards, the price is determined by the want in your voice.Unfortunately I have a hard time not showing my want factor for some stuff. That is why I never could play poker.

I hear yah .... Green's does have a price list when you call and it isn't negotiable - I have tried. There have been many parts that I felt weren't worth what they were asking and have passed on ... Just recently I called to buy some Maverick rear bumper supports to weld in the trunk ... They wanted $30 each ... I decided to go with the Mustang rePops for $15 each . But there are some parts that are so hard to get in nice used condition or just impossible to find used that sometimes you gotta pay the going price.

My dad used to say something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.I'm guilty of being that person sometimes. When I come home from swap meets or junk yards my wife only hears of the really good deals I made, not the ones where I feel like later on "what the heck was I thinking". I get caught up in the moment and tell myself "buy it! you'll never find it again.I tell you its a disease.
