Does a 76 Mav C4 - Torque Converter work for a SBF 157Tooth V8 C4 bell?. Friend is building an early Mudstang and needs a TC for the 289/C4 . I have a C4 out of a 76 Maverick 200 Six and offered the TC if it will fit. I never learned to drive automatic tranny cars so only build 3 pedal cars and have no use for it. have fun Not a slushbox
The 200 will likely have a smaller flexplate and torque converter(my '71 did)... No matter what engine, C4 torque converters won't swap from '70/later to '69/earlier...
No matter what engine, C4 torque converters won't swap from '70/later to '69/earlier... why ? ... oddly enuff. the '76 has aC8DE 200 and a small bellhouse C4.
The input shafts changed from 24 spline to 26 beginning '70.. AFAIK all 200 trans from '70s have small bell... I believe some 200 used in Fox bodies were of the larger 250/302 size...
The starter gear is part of the TC for the 200 six . Not so with the V8's - part of the flex-plate. PS: Re-builders are running short of the 200 TC. You may be able to get some $$ for it.
