Just picked up a 73 maverick grabber yesterday. Its a 302/auto car. One owner bone stock. Im planning to put either a 2005+ mustang 4.6/5 speed or a new coyote 5.0/5 speed combo. Either way I go I want to swap the front suspension with a mustang II style so I can ditch the shock towers for more room for the motor swap. Does anyone make a complete hub to hub mustang II for a maverick? Havent found anything online thats complete. Thanks, Jared
Thats a badass setup! Was hoping for a cheaper option, but there doesnt seem to be many options for the maverick
If you are going to the extent of putting an MII front end in it and want a modular, I would bypass the 3V and go coyote. I think this is a great swap if you can get the powertrain and all of the electronics in one shot.
Here is a good link for info regarding a Coyote swap. http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/engine/hrdp-1306-ford-coyote-engine-swap-guide/ As you can see, upgrading from a 4.6 3V is not a simple proposition, so chances are, whatever you start out with is what you will end up sticking with. That is why I would look long and hard for a wreck with a Coyote in it. I like the fact that a stock Coyote will out power a 3V by 100 HP (depending on year), run/idle smoothly on pump gas all day long. Modifying a Maverick for a modular is a difficult and expensive swap, so if you are going to do it, go for all the power you can.
