Here's yet another electrical mystery. My low beams and dash lights work fine but no high beams. I have voltage going to the dimmer switch (brand new) . Continuity also checks out fine on both sides of the dimmer switch. I replaced the headlight switch but that did no good. Checking voltage at the driver side headlight plug I found voltage on the red wire but nothing on the green. Anyone know what I'm missing?
If the HL switch were bad you'd have neither low or high... My guess the problem is at bulkhead connector but if you have no high beam indicator, problem may be connector on Hi-Lo sw...
The high low switch (dimmer switch?)I thought was just a two way switch. Push it one way and the connection is made through the green wire. Push it the other way and voltage goes through the red wire. Is this not correct? I get continuity when I put a ohm meter between the center lug and the other two lugs depending on which way I press the switch. The switch then must be good. By bulkhead connector are you referring to the where the fuse box block is bolted to the wiring block on the engine side of the firewall? Perhaps a dirty terminal?
That may be a possibility! I wud pull it apart and see if there is corrosion/patina on the terminals. I assumed u probably had bulkhead removed at some point, seeing as the quality of build I hv seen. I agree on the switch being good.
