I installed relays on my lights awhile back to help the weakened headlight switch, but it looks like it's finally dying. I have a perfect switch to replace it with, what is the easiest way to replace it while the dash is still in place?

    Thanks guys!!

Just don't break the tabs off the control cover plate. Use a thin screw driver to slowly pry around the perimeter until they are all free.

Luckily I have taken off the cover a few times, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem. But if it does break I have a few nice spares.

Once the headlight switch starts cycling on and off, they are pretty close to dead in my experience. I killed one because my voltage regulator was overcharging the car. Has your charging system been checked lately? Advance Auto Parts and a few others will do that as a free service.

It started cycling on and off, then I installed relays. That helped now my dash lights won't work and the headlights are giving me problems. But as of 2 weeks the charging system was fine, I replaced the voltage regulator at that time and had it checked. I also had to replace the alternator but that was because the pully nut was stripped.

If alt over charging causes a problem with HL sw, it was going bad anyway...

The alternator tested fine, just wanted to put on a new set of pulleys.
