You can fix all interior vacuum leaks with the dash in the car. 1. Check the canister as I mentioned earlier. 2. Next would be the vacuum switch itself on the heater controls. My bet (for both of you) is that it is one of these two items.
is this little thing the canister you guys mentioned? those to lines going to it don't have any vacuum going on. How to seal it if it's it? Thanks
That is the vacuum operated shut off valve. It cuts off the hot water while the AC is on. You are looking for a canister mounted behind the shock tower on the passenger side. It looks like a tin can.
in that emplacement I've only got a plastic one hooked to some Vacuum though. I'll test it this week-end if that's it.
I can see why my heater controls do not work. but there is no cannister, only a cut off vacuum line. Do I need to get a cannister or can I hook into vacuum somewhere?
Only needed on AC cars. Your core is either plugged or the cable to the blend door has come off. Micah
I'm trying to recall. It has been a while since I converted to AC. I was thinking you got no heat at all. That would be another door that is not opening/closing. I believe that is cable operated too. Can't get to my service manual to confirm. I know I posted a copy of a diagram before. Let me see if I can find it. Micah
so my AC electric cable being unplugged on purpose as AC is none op (out of gas) would be the cause? I should just replug it?
Here is my previous post on AC (Scroll down). Does not have standard info. http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/ac-conversion.104997/#post-1066152 NC: Hopefully someone with standard air will chime in. Jett: The electric plug only controls the compressor clutch via the AC thermostat. Micah
NCFatBoy. You don't have factory AC. So you don't have any vacuum controls. If you only have defrost....then you have a blend door stuck, cable broke, or cable not attached to something.
