Can anyone please measure the locations of the four drain holes on a two door trunk lid?
I had my lid painted, but the shop glued the whole seam shut with sealer... So I need a rough starting point where to look for them!

I'm out in the garage right now, supposed to be working, but I'll quick look at my Comets lid for you. How am I supposed to be measuring for you? Span from hole to hole?.. offsets for each hole off its nearest edge?

middle of each hole to edge of the lid would be best.
I'm sure they're evenly spaced on each side of the lid, so outer and inner hole to the side edge of the lid should do.

can't say that I know enough about these cars to say for sure.. but my Comet decklid seems to be missing those holes completely. Sorry, at least I tried and maybe someone else will chime in with your numbers. Good luck.

you ever figure this out, tody?

Main reason I ask is since some things on my Comet appear to have been "driveway restored".. you got me thinking that maybe my drain holes had been covered up as well. But after digging and gouging away at several bubbles and paint runs.. I can't seem to find where they would have been located.

However, I didn't pull the trunk lids aluminum trim piece but noticed it has factory punched drain holes and thinking maybe they're under that trim pieces mounting flange?

Just a thought and it'll probably bother me enough to pull the trim piece just to shut my mind up about it. lol

no, as no one else responded, i haven't figured it out yet.

but yes, the drain holes are under the trim piece. i have the trim piece on my current lid as well, and might have to take it off to see if i can find the drain holes underneath. they're on the very bottom of the lid, but if memory serves correctly, the actually don't correspond to the holes in the trim piece - that would have just been too easy, i guess.

the new lid (which i drilled for a grabber spoiler) definitely had drain holes on the lower seam. it came off a never repainted parts car, and even then, one hole was covered with factory seam sealer. i completely cleaned it and found the holes.

i remember four rather small holes in total, rectangular shape, located just above the seam...

I looked and MY car only has three, not four. I didn't want to go poking around my seam sealer to find out where the fourth one is, but it's likely mirrored from the 10-1/4" hole but on the other side of the latch. I'm right handed, so I hold the tape in my left hand... Starting from the passenger's side edge of the trunk lid, the measurements are as follows, all measured from the RH edge:

    • 2-3/8"
    • 10-1/4"
    • 52"
