Does anyone know the torque specs on the outer nut on the strut rod bushings as well as the bolts holding the strut rod to the lower control arm?
Nut for strut rod bushings 70 ft/lbs. Nut/bolt for strut rod to lower control arm 90 ft/lbs. use anti-seize/lubricant on threads. David
Torque is applied to front nut, strut rod bushings have an inner metal sleeve (slides over the strut rod, bushing then slides over sleeve, at least that is what came in my MOOG set), so once alignment is set, rear nut secured so does not move and torque the front nut to 70 lbs. All you are doing is properly "crushing" the bushings. Apply anti-seize to threads, provides lube and makes removal or adjustment easier. David
Yep.. as mentioned the backside is just a jamb nut. Been a while since I pulled a wrench on these parts.. but I guess I can't see how you'd be holding much less than about 40-50 ft/lbs on an open ended wrench to keep it from spinning when applying 70 lbs on the front nut. So long as the rear doesn't spin.. it was enough torque to get the job done.
