OK, I'm helping a fellow maverick owner install a T5 5spd in his 77mav. He is using a fox body clutch pedal that slips though the maverick bracket and brake pedal. The quadrant then bolts to the mustang pedal bracket and the cable feeds through the fire wall adjuster to the clutch fork. After setting up this system we found that the cable comes through the firewall adjuster from the engine bay and immediately turns upward about 60 degrees to slide over the quadrant causing the cable to rub against the adjuster. In addition, the pedal is very stiff and he has stretched two cables. We feel it is the abrupt turn upward of the cable that then rubs against the firewall adjuster that makes for a stiff pedal and stretched cables. We need to reduce the cable angle as it comes through the firewall but I don't see how we can "lower" the quadrant. Another solution would be to feed the cable in from a higher point in the firewall but that still may not solve the problem. Also, on the stock mustang T5 does the cable come in perpendicular to the firewall or does it come in at an upward angle to accomodate the quadrant? Any and all comments or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I remember seeing the (aftermarket) clutch cable adjuster being near the top of the firewall on my buddy's.

    See http://www.mustangandfords.com/howto/19920/

"Simply bore a 3/4-inch hole in the firewall directly behind the pedal support just 1 inch below the cowl. This puts the hole above the pedal support directly in line with the clutch pedal."

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

B76mav, can you send or post a picture of where your cable enters the firewall from the engine bay? It would be very helpful. Are you using the mustang clutch pedal and quadrant?

so the cable enters below what I call the cowl lip by a couple of inches. In our case, he was able to slip the mustang clutch pedal shaft through the existing brake pedal and hole. No drilling was necessary. I believe he is using the original automatic brake pedal and bracket. Are you using a bracket from a clutch car? I appreciate the help. Of note, the quadrant comes very close to contacting the wiper mechanism. Maybe the pedal is installed to high?

blownmav, is your pedal assembly similar to the pics posted by fearmont80 in the link you posted above?
