I have 24 inch tall rear tires and I'm wondering if the 3 leaf that's on there right now will be enough. The driver side springs is shot and rubs bad so I think it would be hard to tell now rather than if it weren't. I like the height where it is now so I'm asking. Also I want to upgrade from the rubber bushings. Are these right? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ptp-6-1054/overview/year/1972/make/ford/model/mustang http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ens-4-2135r/overview/year/1972/make/ford/model/mustang not sure what the difference is either.
1st one will not work, Mustang Shackle bushings are too big at 1 3/8" diameter, out Mav/Comets are 1" diameter, which is same as 68-73 Mercury Cougars. 2nd set, only the front eye bushings will work, pretty well standard for most Fords RB82 I think is the correct part number........ David
see if Summit has them for 67-70 Cougar, 1" diameter........Energy Suspension, Prothane, get the black ones as they are graphite impregnated, self-lubricating bushings.......... David
i looked it up for cougar and nothing. weird. i don't even know what size to look for because i believe poly and rubber are sized a little differently
mustangsunlimited carries the poly bushings for the rear. so a search on here, i posted the part number a while back.
ok so it's a 1 inch diameter for both the front part and the rear? https://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=2005RG+01
those are the correct size for the rear shackles only, the front eyes are much larger and ones from 65-70 Mustang will work........... David
Here's a picture of both leaf spring bushings, the larger one (2") goes into the front eye of the leaf spring (one towards the front of the car) it is called the front hanger bushing and the smaller 1" is the rear shackle bushing, one for the rear of the leaf springs. You can PM (start a conversation) with me if you are interested in these Poly bushings. David
Well I ordered the leaf springs today and I got the bushings all in the same order. I was told 2 1/16 on the front and the shackle bushing is correct at 1".
