I plan to use the 74 master cylinder on my 72 mav with front disc brakes 1st is it a direct bolt-on and can u tell a difference in using it over the standard 72 drum manual master?

Because Ford changed fitting size for lines dependent on application, no disc MC I know of is a direct bolt on... I have a '74 on mine but changed the fittings to make it fit... For feel no idea, I swapped mine all at one time but I doubt there will be a major difference......

fittings are diff...I used a drum/drum M/C with my disc/drum and then used it with my disc/disc and had no problems...

So are you using a disc/drum manual brake MC? I have parts to do the disc swap on my 70 but I'm looking into the different MC's. Thanks!

Actually I'm using a disc/drum power MC but only because I screwed up and didn't realize I had the wrong one till a couple months after I'd ordered it... Bore diameter is 15/16" on both(so should have equal performance), but the fittings are different and mounting flange is slightly shallower, so makes the rod from orig MC a little too long... To correct pedal height, I've cut approx 3/8" from my orig rod...

In summation, be sure to get the correct one...

I have a '74 master cylinder in my '73 ('72 should be the same as '73). I had to re-flare one end of one of the short lines that go from the master to the junction block. I also had to install a shorter push-rod as the pedal was too high with the '74 rod. There is no difference in the "feel" of the pedal action, but the larger front reservoir is better suited for disc brakes.
