    Howdy Yall!

I finally bit the bullet last night and ordered a Weiand Stealth intake with mounting bolts, installation hardware, etc. Now I need a carb to go with it. This is going on a 302 bored .030 over with a mild cam and 2.5" exhaust. Otherwise stock.

After lots of research, I like the Holley SA 570. What else do I need other than the carburetor to install this on the new Weiand? Will I need the 1" spacer? Any adapters for the kickdown rod, vacuum lines, electric choke, etc?

Do yall recommend keeping my electric choke or going another route?

    Thanks!

This is just my recommendation as I am sure others will agree and disagree. If I remember correctly on a Stealth the carb sits at a forward angle. That may or may not make the use of a 1 inch spacer problematic depending upon the diameter of the air cleaner. I used a composite 1/2 inch spacer which keeps the carb cool enough to rest your hand on even when the engine is hot. I used to have vapor lock problems before doing this. I did not need an adapter for the kickdown to hook up, but with the Stealth you might as the carb sits higher than on my intake. I like having the electric choke as it makes it easy to start even though the winters are mild in Dallas. One thing you may want to pick up, although it is purely optional assuming the 570 is vac secondaries, might be a secondary diaphragm spring kit to help adjust when the secondaries open.

I'm running my 302 with a Weiand Stealth, 650 Speed Demon with electric choke, a 1" open spacer and a drop down 14" air cleaner with hood clearance to spare. Install the Weiand manifold using RTV at the ends that matches your engine block color. Do not use end gaskets. Far less likely to leak.

I suggest you look online for reviews of the Street Avenger carbs. Friend of mine just put a 670 Street Avenger on his 347. Two weeks of fooling around and even a trip to the dyno he still can't get the carb to run right. Way too rich at idle and runs lean at cruise and power. A lot of people seem to have the same problem with these carbs. He said if he would have read the reviews first he wouldn't have bought the carb. He just bought a Quick Fuel metering block with replaceable IFR and PVCR jets to see if that helps.

I'm not married to the street avenger, it just has good reviews from searching around here and other Ford forums. I know next to nothing about carbs but I am very mechanical and enjoy a good challenge to learn.

I've also heard good things about the speed demons. Either way, let's say I go with a regular Holley 600, what is the spacer and air cleaner setup recommended for clearance?
